The risk of dengue epidemic increases in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) after recent rains. The situation prompted the Minister-Chief Ali Amin Gandapur to note and order all the relevant services to launch urgent anti-Dengo measures across the province.
According to official sources, the secretariat of the chief has published directives to all the division commissioners, assistant commissioners and departments concerned, asking them to launch complete anti-dengues campaigns in an emergency. Stagnant water resulting from recent showers would create a breeding ground for dengue -carrying mosquitoes.
The press release emphasizes that public places, construction sites, markets, schools, government offices and drains must be rid of stagnant water to brake the breeding of mosquitoes.
The health service was also responsible for taking preventive measures in hospitals to manage potential dengue patients. This includes the availability of drugs, diagnostic equipment and other essential installations.

Citizens were invited to take precautionary measures such as emptying stagnant water around their homes and neighborhoods, covering water tanks and using mosquito nets, repellents and protective clothing to reduce the risk of infection.
The chief minister also called mosques, schools and community leaders to actively participate in public education against dengue.
CM Gandapur said: “The prevention of dengue is a collective responsibility. All services are responsible for raising public awareness and the implementation of effective measures to combat this threat. ”
He also ordered that all the commissioners submit weekly reports to anti-dengues activities, hospital preparation and awareness campaigns to ensure the efficiency of the campaign and the timely response.
