ISLAMABAD:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s remarks on the security forces on Friday sparked a wave of criticism from the federal government and the provincial governor, who called them “inappropriate and inflammatory”.

In a strong statement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the chief minister’s comments were “factually incorrect” and an insult to the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for the peace and security of the country.

“No patriot could utter such words about the valiant officers and soldiers who sacrificed everything for the nation,” he said.

He accused the KP CM of trying to “please the eternal enemy” through his remarks, adding that the entire nation and the international community recognize the unprecedented sacrifices of the Pakistani armed forces to restore peace and stability.
