KP CTD announces money on the head for 13 terrorists involved in Kurram violence

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) announced on Saturday money from the head, ranging from RS3M to 30m, for 14 terrorists involved in recent violence in the Kurram district.

Kurram has been struck by violence for decades, but about 150 people were killed in a new series of fights that started in November from last year when two separate convoys traveling under the police escort was caught, killing 40.

In a statement, the CTD said that the accused had been involved in the assimilation of more than 200 people, adding that all terrorists were associated with Pakistan Tehreek-I-Taliban Prohibited (TTP).

Meanwhile, the CTD also published its photos and names, saying that a monetary reward would be given to citizens who provide credible information on the accused.

“Terrorists are involved in looting, criminal fire, siege and death of children and women,” added the CTD.

He also said the accused was involved in sectarian violence in the KP KP district.

In a setback of peace efforts in the region carried out, the deputy commissioner (AC) of Boshehra was injured following the dismissal by unidentified attackers in January.

However, after the efforts of the police, peace was restored and the essential supplies also began to enter Kurram, which was cut off from the rest of the country for months.

As part of peace efforts, 25 other bunkers were demolished in the upper and lower parts of Kurram last month, increasing the number of trenches destroyed to 80. The process of dismantling tribal bunkers began after the peace agreement.

On the other hand, the coordinator of the district of the province of disaster management, Shiraz Bacha, said that the distribution of compensation checks was underway for the families of the victims of Bagan and the tourist vehicles.

The additional deputy commissioner (rescue) Maqsood Khan distributed checks worth RS1 million each to families of 14 other victims. So far, 60 million compensation rupees had been distributed between the victims of terrorism incidents in Kurram, while data collection for other affected people was still in progress.
