The KhyberPakhtunkhwa (KP) government has proposed a substantial increase in traffic violation fines under its finance bill for 2025-26, particularly emphasizing the regulation of the three wheels and the reduction in the driving of minors.

For the first time, a separate category was created for three-wheeled vehicles, including rickshafts and chargers, Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported on Tuesday.

The fines of these vehicles will be from Rs200 to 10,000 rupees depending on the nature of the violation. Failure to comply with the route permits will lead to an RS5,000 penalty, which will be doubled for recurrences.

The bill also offers stricter action against the use of fraudulent driving license. People found leading with false documents can incur fines between RS5,000 and 10,000 rupees.

Minor driving sanctions have also been revised. Fines for motorcyclists under the age of 18 will drop from RS1,000 to RS3,000, while minor drivers of small cars will face fines of 5,000 rupees, against 2,000 current Rs.

Officials said the proposed measures aim to improve road safety and traffic discipline in the province.
