KPK CM Ali Amin Gandapur discusses well-being initiatives with the UN delegation

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur held a meeting with a high-level delegation from the United Nations to discuss current well-being initiatives in the province.

The delegation, led by the UN resident coordinator for Pakistan, Mohammad Yahya, included members such as Ms. Hiroko, Ms. Afki Bootsman and Carlos Abbas Geha, among others.

During the meeting, which also saw the participation of the MNA Faisal Amin Gandapur, of the additional secretary in chief in planning and other senior provincial managers, detailed discussions took place on various social protection programs implemented in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by UN agencies.

One of the key subjects of the discussion was the health sector, in particular efforts to eliminate polio virus, improve maternal and child health and prevent neonatal deaths.

The Gandapur Minister in chief stressed that the eradication of polio remains one of the main priorities of the provincial government, the significant and targeted efforts being deployed in collaboration with international partner organizations to make anti-political campaigns more effective.

In addition, the chief minister underlined the government’s commitment to improve education, in particular for girls, and efforts to increase literacy rates in merged districts. He shared that 36,000 scholarships were offered to girls in these districts to encourage their education.

The other subjects discussed during the meeting included the environment, culture, tourism and rural development.

The chief minister also assured the delegation that the provincial government took serious measures to ensure the well-being of all the religious and cultural minorities in the region, with initiatives such as the supply of solar systems to all places of worship .

Safety and transport problems concerning UN agencies working in the province have also been discussed. The Gandapur Minister of Chief assured the delegation that the provincial government would work in close collaboration with the United Nations agencies and would take all the necessary measures to ensure the security and security of its staff.

The United Nations delegation welcomed provincial government’s efforts in the health sector and has recognized current labor in various social protection initiatives.
