Urge the federal and provincial governments to rebuild homes and support residents displaced by the unrest
PESHAWAR:
Community and religious leaders in Central Kurram have called for full deployment of army, Frontier Corps and police forces across the region to ensure peace and prevent their use in cross-border unrest instigated by neighboring Afghanistan.
Speaking at a press conference held at Peshawar Press Club, Maulana Shahnawaz, a prominent Sunni cleric from Central Kurram, along with other local elders, highlighted the urgent need to protect all areas of the district from militant activities and anarchy.
“We demand that the federal and provincial governments take immediate steps to restore normalcy in central Kurram,” said Maulana Shahnawaz. “The ongoing unrest has caused immense damage to human lives, homes and businesses. Families who lost loved ones and property in recent operations must benefit from comprehensive relief and rehabilitation programs.
The leaders also highlighted the plight of displaced residents of areas affected by suspicious movements and insecurity. They urged authorities to allow these people to return safely to their communities once conditions stabilize.
One of the main concerns raised at the conference was the issue of registering for government assistance. Many victims have been unable to access assistance due to incomplete records or missing village names in NADRA’s dual address system. “It is regrettable that so many affected families remain deprived of assistance due to administrative obstacles,” said Maulana Shahnawaz. “Authorities must correct these records immediately to ensure all eligible residents receive assistance.”
