Kuwaiti authorities repressed the exploitation of illegal cryptography, with more than 60 people now under investigation, as part of a scanning campaign to eliminate without license.
Public prosecution of the country confirmed that investigations were underway and warned that more suspects could be identified in the coming weeks. According to local media, the “security operation” has targeted residential properties across the country suspected of hosting mining platforms.
The operation was coordinated by senior officials, including acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad al-Yousef and the Minister of Electricity, Dr Subaih al-Mukhaizeem. The government said it was aimed at slowing down the use of unauthorized electricity that has set out the national grid and led to breakdowns in certain regions.
The Ministry of Electricity began to disconnect the power of properties related to mining. The reconnection will only be authorized with the authorization of the Ministry of the Interior. Officials also perform follow -up in various districts.
Kuwait applied an “absolute prohibition of all activities to extract virtual / cryptocurrency assets” under a directive of its anti-flowage committee which was supported by regulators, including the National Bank of Kuwait.
