Former LSU Tigers Kyren Lacy receiver was found dead with a “self-inflicted ball injury” after a police pursuit in Texas on Saturday evening, the authorities announced.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that the deputies had been called a man, identified as Lacy, who was arguing with a family member when he fired on the ground, according to Fox 26 Houston. The officials learned that Lacy had fled the scene and launched a search after him.

The officials said that the deputies had attempted to stop on traffic on Lacy, but he led them on a car prosecution that lasted miles. Lacy then crushed his vehicle in the spring, according to the authorities.
The deputies who answered withdrew Lacy from the vehicle to take it into police custody, but it was found with a “self-inflicted ball injury” and was declared dead on the scene, said the sheriff.
“The homicide detectives from the Harris County Sheriff’s Bureau and the crime stage units conducted an investigation into the incident,” said a statement via Fox 26 Houston. “The preliminary information indicates that Lacy was shot by the pursuit and before the vehicle collision. A handgun was recovered inside the vehicle. An examination of the body camera of the PCT units. And in the video mounted on the dashboard by car did not indicate any fire after the end of the prosecution.
“Once the Homicides of the Harris Sheriff’s Homicides in the Sheriff’s Office, it will be sent to the Division of Civil Rights of the Harris County Prosecutor, as a standard for any death that takes place during an attempted arrest.”

Lacy was 24 years old. Athletes from everyone in sport reacted to their death.
“We are saddened to learn the tragic death of the former student-athlete of LSU football, Kyren Lacy,” LSU said in a statement to PK Press Club Digital. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and relatives, as well as his former teammates and coaches affected by his death.”
The wide receiver, which graduated in December and could have been a selection in the next NFL draft, was the subject of an investigation in Louisiana as part of an accident in December which killed 78 years, officials announced in January.
He was accused of having driven recklessly – accelerate and go to a non -passing area – when the motorist has swerved to avoid Lacy and crashed into another vehicle.
He fled the place of the accident without calling for help, said the state of Louisiana. An arrest warrant was obtained for Lacy for negligence, an offense of offense and an imprudent operation of a vehicle.
A large jury would have been ready to hear evidence in the case on Monday.

Lacy was transferred to LSU in 2022. He had his best season in 2024 when he had 58 catches for 866 yards and nine affected.
