- Beats finally made PowerBeats Pro 2 official
- Headphones are the first beats to present heart rate sensors
- Active noise cancellation, longer battery and wireless load
It’s been a long time, but Beats officially announced the PowerBeats Pro 2 after countless teasers have shared and many rumors. It has been six years since the original powerbeats have entered the scene, and the successors aim to jump them in many ways.
The emblematic ear hooks remain, although the design is a little more modern and thinner overall. The most important thing, however, are the upgrades made under the hood. For example, buds adopt the AirPods Pro 2 H2 chip and inaugurate new technology, including a personalized double layer driver and a heart rate sensor, a first for any product of apple manufacturing or headphones.
Beats has been working on this set of features for PowerBeats Pro 2 for some time. “When we were in the process of making PowerBeats Wireless during the acquisition process, this is the list of features we wanted,” said Matthew Costello, vice-president of Apple’s material engineering. It took the development of features by Beats twinned with Apple technologies to have it crossed the finish line.
So, let’s get out of PowerBeats Pro 2 a little more. If you are one of the faithful Beats who were waiting for his next entry into the earphones in the ear, know that the price has not increased by the original. PowerBeats Pro 2 is $ 249.99 in the United States, $ 249.99 in the United Kingdom and $ 399.95 in Australia. At the launch, the headphones are available in four colors: jet black, fast sand, hyper purple and electric orange.
What’s new with PowerBeats Pro 2
The entire PowerBeats Pro 2 package is slightly brought, but the ear hooks guarantee that they do not fall. The ear caps, the main body and the bridge connecting the two are all thinner, and this bridge is more a strongly inclined bar. All this still makes them very comfortable on your ears, but people who hate capacitive pimples on headphones will be happy that the Beats logo is always physical and that a volume rocker is located on deck.
Inside each PowerBeats Pro 2 is the Apple H2 chip, power connectivity and processing on devices, and it is the first of the best Beats headphones for some time to obtain a processor parent company, which uses Beats fleas. He also puts them at a level with AirPods Pro 2, and these are the first PowerBeats Pro with an active noise cancellation, a mode of transparency and an adaptive equalizer to mix reading in real time.
Audio supply is a new 9.5 mm driver designed by beats and designed, set in a double layer design and larger than what is used in other headphones in its current range. In addition, it has been set to exceed the frequency range of the original, but always be faithful to the beats – which means that you can expect a large in the bottom. It is also associated with redesigned ventilation on headphones – there is less visibility on this subject – and a new acoustic network.
The functionality that has helped make my journey to the office a little better while I test them is the care of space audio with a catch -up. It shines with Apple Music – I’m a big fan of having friends first try it with At the corner By Creedence Clearwater Revival – because it makes an immersive audio experience much more convincing, as well as movies and television programs mixed with Dolby Atmos.
In addition, if you have an Apple Vision Pro, PowerBeats Pro 2 is the second audio product to support the ultra-track latency with the space computer of $ 3,500 (departure). Apple Airpod Pro 2 was the first.

A first for beats and for apple: heart rate sensors on headphones

What is really new, however, is that PowerBeats Pro 2 is the first beating headphones – and Apple – to ship with a heart sensor for each ear. I am told that this has been made possible thanks to a deep collaboration between the two sides of the company, but it is clear that the biometric functionality will be particularly attractive for a segment of the PowerBeats market: athletes. This is why Beats tested them with more than 1,000 athletes.
Powerbeats Pro heart sensor took time to come to life and was something beats was looking for for the original version. It is derived from the Apple Watch, but is actually 1/16 the size of the sensor in the Apple Watch Series 10. It’s really tiny, as you can say in the palm of my hand. The sensor contains an LED sensor, a photodiode, an optical lens and an accelerometer. When you have both powerbeats in your ears, it will read.
I asked Costello how difficult it was to deliver a heart rate sensor in a earpiece and ensure its precision. “We have exploited a large part of The Watch’s work, but we have also developed our own algorithms based on placement in the ear. It was a big challenge, but we got there, ”he told me. The result is that each ear takes a reading in use, and the algorithms look at both and offer a result that will fulfill reading every five seconds.

The heart rate sensor is not accessible everywhere.
Heart readings will also appear in the health application on your iPhone, but if you wear an Apple Watch, these readings will prioritize and there is no way to deactivate this. You may also notice that Apple Fitness Plus is not here at launch. We did not get an exact answer to know why, but Beats noted that he was trying to extend support. Conversely, the PowerBeats Pro 2 Heart SATED reads on Android will work with any major fitness or training application.
It should be noted that Apple and Beats have chosen to start the heart rate sensor on PowerBeats Pro 2 first, despite the rumors that it also arrives at Airpod Pro 3 – and the team is clearly excited about this. It also looks like a beating movement because so many athletes choose to use Beats products.
Costello says: “We are extremely delighted to bring this first health focused on health to the PowerBeats Pro Line, and we think it is a real path for future development.”
Alongside the monitoring of the heart rate, Beats finally provides two things that were not necessarily perfect for the original PowerBeats Pro. For the second generation, the case finally takes charge wireless, and it is 33%smaller, which Costello described as a “love work”. It always swells in the pocket, but it is much better and is more a rounded rectangle than an appropriate square. Each earpiece attaches magnetically inside in the appropriate location and will recharge here.
And although the headphones get my integration on the iPhone and find my beats on Android via the Companion application, the case does not present the U1 chip like AirPods Pro 2 or a speaker on the case like AirPods 4 with cancellation of active noise.
Regarding the battery life, Beats promises up to 45 hours of reading without activated listening mode, including the refills of the case. This means that you get 10 hours from the burden in full load and that you recharge three and a half years in the case. With the ANC or transparency, you get up to 36 hours of listening and eight hours of buds alone. It is a significant improvement compared to the original. They also include resistance to IPX4 sweat and water, which is a little less robust than I could expect for sports headphones.
I have been testing them for about two weeks, and as an unconditional fan of the original PowerBeats Pro, I feel enough at home here. The sound quality is better, and the ANC and transparency do the business very well to go to the office and try to block the world around me. I like Beats to remain in its roots with a low -end Punchy, but as a person who exchanged PowerBeats Pro against Beats Fit Pro and Airpods Pro (1 and 2), I found myself taking a few days for me Accustom to the ear- Hook design again.
I think a lot of people looking for the best training headphones will be satisfied with these, especially the ear hook for those who don’t like the feeling of pebbles of wing pebbles. We will soon come back with a complete examination and a deeper dive in fitness features.
