The Lahore traffic police launched a new initiative to improve the delivery of public services and working conditions for traffic guards, starting with the installation of high -tech traffic kiosks at the large intersections of the city.
Traffic director (CTO), Dr. Athar Waheed, said the first kiosk was installed in AFSHAN CHOWK on Mall Road and offers facilities such as motorcycle license and driving license collection.
He declared that this decision aims to bring the circulation services closer to citizens while protecting staff in service from difficult weather conditions.
The kiosks are equipped with air conditioning, drinking water and rest areas for guards, allowing them to work in a safer and more comfortable environment.
Each kiosk will also be equipped with a speaker system for traffic control ads. Traffic guards will be deployed 24 hours a day in three quarters of work.
“All traffic related services will be accessible in these kiosks, making the system more suitable for citizens,” said Dr. Waheed.
The initiative is inspired by the models used in developed countries and is gradually deployed.
After Afshan Chowk, kiosks will be installed in other parties of Lahore, including Mall Road, Gulberg and Iqbal Town.
The project is monitored by the headquarters of the SP Mansoor-Ul-Hassan under the directives of the chief minister of Punjab.
