Lahore police accused of extortion, theft of call center

A group of Lahore police officers was accused of having extorted money from a call center.

The incident took place in the jurisdiction of the police station of the civil lines, where a group of police officers, in a complete uniform, would have attacked a local call center, reported Express News.

According to the first information report (FIR), two officers, accompanied by their accomplices, entered the premises of the call center, brandishing weapons.

They then forced the staff to withdraw Rs 300,000 (approximately 1,500 USD) from an automatic counter.

The officers, after obtaining the money, would have taken 200,000 rupees of laptops and other valuables before fleeing the premises.

The victim, a woman by the name of Amber Nawaz, deposited the FIR, which prompted the civil line police to investigate the case.

Police managed to arrest five suspects, including two of the alleged police officers involved. Authorities have initiated new legal proceedings against arrested suspects.

Last week, the liaison committee of the police and citizen police arrested two suspects for having pretended to demand the extortion of an owner of the hospital in the region of the Karachi Bilale colony. A distributor working in the hospital was also involved in crime.

The suspect, Tauseef and Umer, sent an extortion slip to Dr. Aqeel, owner of the general hospital of doctors general of Akhtar, in the discounts of the police station of the colony of Bilal. The suspects had requested 0.8 million reducers from the doctor. In addition to the extortion note, the accused had also sent a 9 mm ball to an envelope like a threat in addition to sending a letter to Dr. Nazia and Dr Aqeel threatening to kill them if the extortion money was not paid.

The mobile phone and the SIM card used in the event of extortion were recovered from the possession of the accused. The police also recovered threatening conversation data.

Umer, working as a distributor in the hospital, provided information on the owner and the clinic to the main accused tauseef. According to the regulation, Umer was supposed to obtain 50% of the extortion amount to provide the information
