Houston Astros launcher, launches McClulrs Jr., said that his team fans have turned him against him in the worst way.

After a difficult start on Saturday, where he granted seven points deserved in just a third of a round launched against the Reds of Cincinnati, McCullers said that he had received death threats from online astros fans.

“I understand that people are very passionate and people love astros and love sport, but threatening to find my children and murdering them is a bit difficult to manage,” said the 31 -year -old right -hander. “So just like a father, I think there have been a lot, many threats over the years were mainly aimed at, and I think that in fact one or two people other problems around baseball should actually go to prison for things like that.

“But I think the children in the equation threatened to find them or the next time they will see us in public, they will stab my children to death, things like that, it is difficult to hear as a father.”

The Houston police department and the MLB security were both alerted threats to McCullers, the organization said.

It was only McCullers’ second departure for astros since 2022 World Series, while he was fighting against several injuries in the past two seasons.

It was disastrous from the start when Elly de la Cruz hit a three -point circuit after McCullers at Tj Friedl and hit Matt Mclain with a throw to start the match. McCullers obtained a withdrawal after the Home Run, but two other walks and two sure after that quickly turned the game into an advance of 5-0.

Manager Joe Espada had to eliminate the McCullers, but the basic runners the second and third were still his responsibility. They later fell into the first round in 10 points for Cincinnati.

Espada also spoke of death threats against his veteran starter.

“There are people who threaten his life and the life of his children because of his performance,” said Espada. “It is very regrettable that we have to face it. After all, he did for this city, for his team, the fact that we have to talk to it in my office – I also have children, and it makes me really crazy that we have to face this. Very sad, very, very sad.”

McCullers is a double champion of World Series trying to find consistency on the mound again. His injury problems began to train in the spring in 2023, when a muscle tension in his pitching arm closed it. Then, in June of the same year, he underwent an end -of -season surgery to repair a flexor tendon in his arm as well as to eliminate a bone spur.

McCullers’ rehabilitation did not go as planned either. In July 2024, it was closed to launch and it was announced that it would be missing all season. He would finally have his chance on the mound on May 4, where he launched three -sleeves aimlessly against the White Sox in Chicago.

“If you fail, you fail on a very large scene (with) a lot of eyes and there is nowhere to hide,” added McCullers. “At the end of the day, I just want to do my job. I just want to be a good launcher for astros, and I think I will get there. But, as I said, I just think that I have to worry about it, worry to leave the city and leave them and things like that or to put it in school, I just think … there should be a certain type of decency.”

McCullers, which was part of the star team in 2017, has a 3.55 career with Astros, even after its brutal release on Saturday. He also has an MPM of 3.47 in 19 games in playoffs, all with Houston.
