- A new Crimson Desert a patch was released on PS5 and PC
- It adds a new tutorial quest and changes boss balance, among other changes.
- The game is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S and PC
Developer Pearl Abyss released a day one patch for its new game Crimson desert, which includes some much-needed tweaks and fixes.
As detailed in the official patch notes, for those on PlayStation 5, the update came in two separate parts: patch 1.00.01 and patch 1.00.02. Each had slightly different content, although both are available now. The update is also available for those on PC, but the Xbox and Mac App Store versions should follow “later.”
Its biggest new feature is a tutorial quest at the start of the game’s third chapter, designed to explain the mechanics of Abyss Gears in more detail. The three protagonists’ combat has also been improved somewhat, with a new finishing move introduced for Cliff, as well as a new follow-up skill and follow-up attack for Damiane and Oongka, respectively.

Those who struggle with the game’s punishing boss fights, one of the areas for improvement noted in our otherwise complimentary Crimson Desert review, will be happy to learn that the Battle of Tenebrum in Chapter Four no longer requires you to complete the previous puzzle section every time you die.
Additionally, the “combat balance of some bosses” has been changed, with the infamous Reed Devil specifically cited as an example in the patch notes. This is all in addition to various crash fixes and minor tweaks intended to improve the overall experience.
A sprawling action role-playing game (RPG), Crimson Desert is supposed to offer hundreds of hours of entertainment in a huge open world. If you want to get started, it’s available now on PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
