Rawalpindi:
The association of the district bar observed a complete strike on Monday, boycotting the legal proceedings to protest against the alleged assault, the ill -treatment and the false FIR against the former secretary of the bar Malik Tajammul Awan and the main lawyer Chaudhry Rizwan Elahi by the staff of the traffic police.
During the bar meeting, lawyers unanimously adopted a resolution to prohibit the entry of traffic guards and traffic police in the district court complex.
The president of the bar and secretary warned of strong repercussions if the case “false and late” against the lawyers is not withdrawn and that no measure is taken against the guards to responsible traffic.
They also asked that the city traffic officer (CTO) would be prohibited from entering the court premises, declaring that the flood raising will no longer be tolerated.
The secretary of the bar Malik Asad Mahmood said that no law authorizes traffic guards to act violently or improperly, adding: “This case will not be treated as a routine. Strict measures must be taken against the responsible director.”
A resolution condemning the conduct of the director of traffic involved was also adopted. Within the framework of the strike, lawyers did not appear in any legal proceedings, which put judicial activity to a status of district, civil, family and special courts.
