Lays of heavy Islamabad fire blows, more than 145 mm of rain recorded

Islamabad:

The torrential rains beat Islamabad, causing urban floods, damaging houses and overwhelming a vehicle, because the authorities have issued high alerts in the capital and the neighboring Rawalpindi in the middle of the increase in water levels in the main voids.

According to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi, Saidpur Village received 145 mm of precipitation within 3.5 hours, triggering sudden floods in seasonal rivers. The Met Office said that the situation was not considered a Cloudburst. “Saidpur recorded 124 mm of rain in 2.5 hours, while Golra saw 46 mm. A Cloudburst is when precipitation exceeds 100 mm in an hour,” said the manager.

At Rawalpindi neighboring, water levels in Nullah Leh have also increased sharply. Wasa has declared an emergency of rain and expressed a red alert. At the Katarian bridge, the water level reached 14 feet, while in Gawalmandi, it reached 6.5 feet. The emergency teams were mobilized to manage the situation.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has planned large excessive precipitation over the next 12 hours, warning up to 50 mm in the Porthhohar region.

The deputy commissioner of Islamabad visited the affected area and asked officials to intensify operations against encroachments. “The illegal constructions hinder the natural flow of water in draws,” he said, leading an immediate authorization.

DC IRFAN NAWAZ Memon ordered all assistant commissioners to inspect the low zones in their jurisdictions and to take immediate measures to mitigate potential risks.

The administration of the territory of the capital of Islamabad (ICT) said that the follow -up of seasonal rivers and draws is underway to prevent overflow or urban floods. Special teams have been deployed to ensure a smooth water flow, especially in areas subject to floods.

Authorities have urged citizens to adopt precautionary measures during wet fate. Residents of vulnerable areas were advised to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary trips. The DC also encouraged the public to quickly report emergencies or block drains for a quick response.

Meawnhile, the province of disaster management (PDMA) has planned a fourth fate of monsoon across Punjab.

This spell should be stronger than the previous ones, bringing thunderstorms, wind and rain in several regions, notably Rawalpindi, Murrier, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and certain parts of southern Punjab.

The PDMA issued an alert for the risk of strong precipitation and floods from July 20 to 25, urging local authorities to remain vigilant.

River levels in Ravi, Jhelum, Sutlej and Chenab should increase, while average level floods have already been reported in the Industry River.

To manage the potential impact, provincial agencies such as WASA, LWMC and local municipalities have mobilized emergency measures to manage flood risks, and the authorities applied section 144 around rivers and watercourses to ensure public security.

Other parts of the country, including cashmere, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad upper, northeast of Punjab, the Polyhohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, northeast and southern Balutchistan and southern Sindh, should live the rain, wind and soaking tremors over the next twelve hours.
