Lea Michele credited a familiar Broadway central for having inspired his last role on stage.
In his conversation with PEOPLE MagazineMichele revealed that it was Idina Menzel, her former on-screen mother from Joywhich sparked his desire to join the new Broadway rebirth of Chess.
It is worth noting that Menzel played Florence Vassy during a concert of the show in London in 2008.
“I heard Idina Menzel sing [the Chess number] ‘Nobody’s Side’ and I said, ‘I have to sing this song every night,'” Michele recalls,
Additionally, the Tony The candidate added that she was moved by the number of Joy alumni are currently thriving Broadway steps.
“I mean, Jonathan[Groff]is here with me tonight, and I talked to Darren [Criss]and I’m so excited for Kevin [McHale]”, she shared.
“Glee has the most incredible cast with…talented people, so it makes sense that we’re all here.”
