Lakki Marwat:
In an act of targeted terrorism, the head of a local peace committee and two of his companions were killed Sunday in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Lakki Marwat district, confirmed the police.
GHAMALL DASTAGI, known locally as FAUJI and head of the Shahab KHEL peace committee, was on the way to the Qabol Khel region when armed men set an ambush to his vehicle in the Kara Wanda region. His companions, Saleem Khan and Salahuddin, were also killed on the spot.
Shortly after the incident, the security forces launched a research operation in the surroundings to apprehend the attackers and prevent new violence.
The targeted murder is of continuation of the increase in militant activity in Lakki Marwat, where members of the peace committee, responsible for supporting the application of local laws and resisting terrorist influence, are increasingly attacked.
This is not the first time that those responsible for the peace committee have been targeted in KP. In April alone, two deadly attacks took place against these groups, one of which took place in Lakki Marwat.
On April 29, members of a local peace committee were involved in a fierce fire battle with alleged terrorists in the Begukhel region after the attackers killed an elderly man and injured his relatives.
Earlier, on April 26, a powerful explosion crossed an office of the peace committee in southern Waziristan, killing at least seven people and injuring 16 others. The explosion was widely sentenced because another attempt to destabilize community security efforts.
