LeBron James announced on Monday that he will give up participation in the Met Gala despite his honorary co -president of the event, which takes place in New York.
Los Angeles Lakers star said he was faced with an injury he had suffered during the team’s qualifying series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“Unfortunately, because of my knee injury that I suffered at the end of the season, I will not be able to attend the Met Gala in New York tonight, because so many people asked and congratulated!” James wrote on X.
“I hate missing a historic event! My beautiful powerful queen will be there to hold the castle as she has always done!”
James suffered a knee ligament in match 5, reported the Associated Press. The 40 -year -old was released for a few weeks if the Lakers had avoided elimination.

The theme of the Met Gala is inspired by the annual spring exhibition, which is based on the book by Monica L. Miller “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Style of Black Diaasporic Identity”.
The exhibition itself, “Superfine: Black Style Tailoring”, is based on other sources beyond the book. It is organized in a dozen sections, symbolizing a characteristic of the Dandy style as defined by Zora Neale Hurston in his 1934 test, “characteristics of black expression”.

The gala collected a record of $ 31 million, said CEO of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Max Hollein.
