Corey Parker breathed his last at age 60 after battling cancer in his final years, his aunt Emily Parker told reporters.

Parker died on Thursday, March 5, in Memphis, Tennessee, from an undisclosed type of cancer.

Fans were struck by this incredible news as the actor had led a low-key lifestyle in the latter part of his life, according to a TMZ report.

Parker focused on teaching and coached many young actors for many years.

On Instagram, Acting Studio BGB shared a message from his sister Noelle, which read: “I believe he left this world weightless, at peace, and surrounded by love. I’m writing to you, Corey, here, directly, because this is how I…we…keep you with us. I’ve known and loved you for 45 years, since our EST days in New York as starving wild artists.”

The poignant statement continues: “You have played a major role in my creative work, in my creative family, for decades. It came full circle when you joined our BGB community as a teacher, and we journeyed through the work together, all of us, always coming back to the truth and the potential of storytelling, of the infinite power of the actor. You kept us all honest and brave and about art.”

She celebrated the genius he left behind, writing: “And so we celebrate your incredible talent, your unprecedented passion and joy in work and in your family, your immense gift and dedication to teaching, your generosity, your love. All our lives are so much richer for knowing you, and you continue in each of us, and in what you have given and inspired us… forever.”
