- The disclosed images of the Lenovo Legion Go 2 indicate that the new workforce will have Steamos variants
- The new device will be presented at IFA 2025 in Berlin
- It comes in the middle of the next `Complete Experience ” from Microsoft for the Rog Xbox Ally X
IFA 2025 is about to start in Berlin, Germany, and recent leaks have indicated that the brand new Lenovo Legion Go 2 will be unveiled. Fortunately, it gave us more information about what to expect.
As indicated by Notebookcheck, one of the disclosed images of Evan Blass (Evleaks on X) presents the Lenovo Legion Go 2 using Steamos de Valve, which suggests that the device will have at least one Steamos variant. This would follow the same steps as his counterpart Lenovo Legion Go S, which has both AMD Ryzen Z2 Go models and Ryzen Z1 Extreme Steamos.
This may not be a huge surprise, because Valve Steamos are constantly gaining popularity, especially for pocket computers with access to bazzite (a steamos clone). And Lenovo seems to be confident with the operating system with the Legion Go 2.
Although the Legion Go 2 was announced and revealed earlier in January at CES 2025, it was just a prototype, and he still did not leave this phase. However, the prototype seems to be identical to the model that we can see in the disclosed rendering (available below), in terms of ergonomics, and it will always use the new Ryzen Z2 Extreme of AMD.
Lenovo will probably stick to Microsoft Windows 11 as the main operating system (for one or more of its models) as expected. After all, however, Lenovo is the only general public manufacturer to have some of his portable devices (obviously outside the Steam de Valve bridge) under Steamos license, and the Linux -based operating system that arrives at another Lenovo pocket computer is an excellent sign that the valve can intensify efforts to bring Steamos to other hands.
It should also be noted that the next Asus and Microsoft Rog Xbox Ally X will launch with a new `Complete Experience ” on Windows 11, which mainly uses the Xbox PC application to offer a friendly user experience, reproducing almost Steamos of Valve. Once this will launch towards other pocket computers next year, it will be interesting to know how will be made against Magnum Opus de Valve.
Analysis: it is ideal for other rounds if Lenovo and Valve continue that
I’m going to be honest, the more I can get Microsoft’s Windows 11, especially On portable games, the better, and I like what Lenovo and Valve do with the Legion Go Going Handlesd.
This way opens for other general public manufacturers such as Asus or MSI to possibly bring Steamos to their devices, and I can tell you that my experience with the Claw 8 MSI 8 makes me want that more than anything else. I am sure that the new Xbox in full screen will be excellent on Windows 11, but I think it is too late to win as I have already said.
Again, there is no official confirmation that Steamos arrives at the Lenovo Legion Go 2, but I am almost sure that it will be, because it would be strange that it is a rendering for the next device, and also, the same thing has already been done with the Legion Go S.
I will not get the Legion Go 2, especially if it will be assessed what it supposed to be, but it is certainly pleasant to see Valve look beyond its steam game in efforts to improve portable game experiences.
