- Lenovo’s AI stick connects to non -NPU PCs, adding capabilities fueled by AI
- Presented at MWC 2025, prices and availability remain unknown
- The device is compact, about 9 cm long and requires a Thunderbolt port
If you wish to benefit from AI capabilities available but you are not currently on the market for one of the many new fanciful portable computers with integrated NPUs, Lenovo works on some intriguing solutions.
The first of them is the AI display, which is a screen that has an integrated discreet NPU which not only adds intelligent features to the monitor, but can also add an AI functionality to laptops or non -AI desktops. The other is the AI stick, a small brick -shaped device that connects to any PC not equipped with NPU.
These two concepts were presented at the MWC 2025, and although there is not yet a word on prices or availability for one or the other device, I cannot imagine that Lenovo will want to drag too long before launching them.
Thunderbolt required
Although we did not know the dimensions of the IA stick, on the basis of the rendering that Lenovo shared with a trendy USB cable, it seems about 9 cm long – so tiny.
Lenovo says on the IA stick that he will give “users with unrequined PC access to NPUs with advanced AI features such as large -language local models (LLM) and improved graphic applications on their device.”
The company continues by explaining that the device “contains an NPU of 32 tops which connects to a PC via a USB-C Thunderbolt port to allow the PC to use the features of Lenovo AI now and can also be connected to a wall outlet to release maximum performance to require AI tasks.”
Lenovo AI is now the PC manufacturer’s personal assistant designed to stimulate productivity and automate tasks on the various devices supplied by the company’s AI.
Although IA’s stick, like AI display, is an excellent idea, it is an excellent which is unfortunately limited by the fact that any PC you use will need a Thunderbolt port. If you hoped to offer AI intelligence to this laptop or an older office computer, it seems that you will not be lucky.
