- More affordable models will be based on model 3 and the existing Y model
- Cost cutting will include stripped interiors and reduced technology
- This decision is a sales reduction offer, which have dropped in recent months
During a call for shareholders who followed the announcement of Tesla’s quarterly results, Elon Musk “Let the Cat of the Bag” (as he said) by declaring that Tesla affordable to very large number will simply be a lying model Y.
The CEO of Division has not come into detail, only that production is scheduled for August or September, but it is understood that the cheaper model will be offered at a lower price thanks to a reduction in interior technologies, to the use of cheaper materials and to a more affordable number of exterior.
While many sectors of the Tesla purchasing community were looking forward to an affordable new model, which was once considered a tesla of $ 25,000 which would be based on the “non-box” platform of cybercab, Musk estimates that the YY model is more accessible to help buoy sales.
In the same profit call, Musk warned the shareholders of “a few difficult quarters to come”, commenting on the fact that the Trump administration had deleted a certain number of initiatives and incentives which had previously proven a rich source of income for the company.
These include regulatory credits that the company has sold to more polluting competitors to help compensate for their carbon emissions.
To compose questions, the Guardian reported that the figures published by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) revealed that sales of Tesla vehicles in Europe dropped from 33% to 110,000 in the first half of 2025, against 165,000 in the first half of 2024.
Elon Musk tried to soften investors by declaring that the future of the company lies in its Robotaxi and its autonomous driving solutions, boldly affirming on the call of profits that “half of the United States population will be covered by the Tesla Robotaxis by the end of the year”.
This despite the fact that its service “paid for” is always limited to a certain number of selected guests, who will all have to share the journey with a Tesla security guard and can only travel in a strictly fenced area of Austin, Texas.
Tesla’s data suggest that the automatic driver Empire
While Elon Musk still hits the drum from its autonomous driving systems, Tesla has revealed an automatic security report which suggests that its autonomous driving technology only regressed in 2025.
The data highlights the kilometers among accidents for Tesla vehicles with activated automatic pilot features, comparing this to the American average of the kilometers driven between accidents.
Electk reports on this subject for years and clearly highlights the many holes in the data selected by Tesla cherries. But even when taking into account different biases and differences, the figures clearly show that there were less kilometers traveled between accidents in the first quarter of 2025 than in the same quarter last year.
It should be noted that this only concerns the automatic driver, which is a technology lower than the complete driver system (FSD) of Tesla.
But it is still not a good look, especially when the CEO boins that customers will soon be able to use the FSD without supervision – in other words, driving entirely without hands / eyes in a variety of driving conditions that very few manufacturers have managed to crack successfully.
