ISLAMABAD:
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken strict note of the PML-N Punjab government’s failure to complete the necessary process for holding local government (LG) elections in the country’s most populous province, despite assurances.
According to sources, the election monitoring authority has summoned the chief secretary and the LG secretary to appear in person on January 22.
The provincial government is yet to provide the ECP with delimitation rules and notifications from union councils (UCs). The ECP said additional measures would be taken to ensure the elections were conducted.
