The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought responses from the federal and Punjab governments and the Punjab IG on a petition challenging the military detention, military court proceedings and court martial of Hassaan Niazi.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry and Justice Sardar Ali Akbar Dogar heard a petition filed by Hassaan.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer argued that after Hassaan’s arrest in connection with the May 9 case, he was not produced before a civil court. Instead, the Sarwar Road police returned him to military custody without any legal order from the court.
