LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) has constituted a three-member bench to hear petitions challenging the 27th constitutional amendment.
LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum constituted the bench, appointing Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan as its head, while Justice Jawad Hassan and Justice Sultan Tanvir will be members.
The petitions were addressed to the Prime Minister and the President of the National Assembly through their respective secretaries. According to the arguments, the amendment strips the Supreme Court of its original jurisdiction and effectively transforms it into the Federal Constitutional Court.
