The High Court of Lahore (LHC) rejected the petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) requesting the authorization of a public rally in Minar-E-Pakistan on March 22.

Judge Farooq Haider chaired the hearing and confirmed the registrar’s objection, declaring that PTI must first address the government’s compensation committee before requesting judicial intervention.

The court judged that if the committee did not decide, PTI could then deposit a petition.

The PTI chief, Akmal Khan Bari, had deposited the petition, arguing that the party had officially requested authorities’ authorization but received no response.

PTI lawyer argued that the implication of the compensation committee would be futile.

LHC, however, maintained its position according to which the appropriate legal procedures had to be followed before the case was heard before the court.

The petition argued that the party wished to organize a rally in accordance with the law and the constitution, but was refused the authorization of a peaceful rally, Express News reported.

PTI asked the court to allow them to hold the rally in Pakistan Minar, ensuring their right to the Pacific Assembly.

In the petition, the party stressed that despite all the legal procedures, their request for a peaceful rally was refused, and they request the intervention of the court to grant them authorization for the provided.

Earlier, the administration of the Lahore district denied PTI to organize a rally in Minar-E-Pakistan on February 8.

The PTI had announced the organization of a public rally on February 8, the first anniversary of the last general elections that the party describes as very fake last week in January.
