Lahore:
The High Court of Lahore (LHC) ordered the release of six family members on Tuesday, including women and children, who had been found illegally confined by an owner of the district of Mandi Bahauddin.
Judge Tariq Mahmood Bajwa made the order by hearing a Habeas Corpus petition filed by Muhammad Qasim, a resident of Mandi Bahauddin, who alleged that his relatives had been illegally detained.
A bailiff appointed by the court presented the rescued persons – Muhammad Saleem and his family members – before the court.
The bailiff said that, acting on the directives of the court and accompanied by the local police, a raid was led to the dependence of Muhammad Akram, an owner of the village of Jokalian, Tehsil Phalia.
According to the bailiff, Saleem was found chained in chains, while his wife and children were locked in a room. All six were rescued during the operation.
