LHC requests arguments on disqualification advocacy

Lahore:

The High Court of Lahore (LHC) asked on Tuesday the arguments by June 13 on a plea requesting the disqualification of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as a member of the National Assembly (MNA) under article 62 of the Constitution, read with article 203 (3) of the law on elections, 2017.

Judge Khalid Ishaq heard the petition filed by Ashba Kamran, who urged the court to order the President of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq to send a reference to the Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) for the disqualification of Bilawal on the so -called membersions to two political parties and PPPP).

The petitioner argued that the ECP, as a constitutional guard dog of the electoral process, had not applied article 203 (3) and its pre -electoral instructions published on June 13, 2024, to all the return officers, who prevented the candidates from holding members of the duel party.

She allegedly alleged that Bilawal had permanently occupying double posts, as president of the PPP and, simultaneously, as MNA elected PPPP, both in the 2018 and 2024 general elections.
