Lieutenant-General Nigar Johar appointed the RCCI ambassador for the empowerment of women

Lieutenant Gen (RETD) Nigar Johar Khan was appointed brand ambassador for the empowerment of women and initiatives related by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).

The announcement occurred during an event entitled She Dips – a tribute to women, held Monday at the House House of RCCI. Nigar Johar, the first and the only woman in Pakistan to reach the rank of general three stars, was the guest in chief.

Speaking during the ceremony, the president of the RCCI, Usman Shaukat, praised Johar’s career as a person defined by the courage and revolutionary achievements. “She is a lighthouse of hope and aspiration,” said Usman Shaukat.

Group leader Sohail Altaf has reaffirmed RCCI’s support for inclusive development, calling for events as it leads to a means of recognizing the role of women in national progress.

In his opening speech, Nigar Johar praised RCCI’s proactive position on the inclusion of women. “The creation of spaces so that women decrease, develop and shape the future is essential,” she said.

She also expressed her support for RCCI’s planned solidarity march for Palestine, which will be held with the participation of the Palestinian ambassador.

Born in Swabi, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Nigar Johar joined the Army Medical College in 1981 and graduated in 1985. She later became the colonel commander of the army’s medical profession, making history as the highest official woman in the Pakistani army.
