The American Banque Senate Committee has officially established the list of members of the new digital asset committee, placing senator Cynthia Lummis in mind, as planned. But it also includes two names that received strong support from the Crypto Fairshake political action committee in the 2024 elections.
The new senator Bernie Moreno, the Ohio blockchain entrepreneur who overthrew the former Democratic president Sherrod Brown, is one of the five Panel Republicans. The Crypto Super PAC devoted $ 40 million to support Moreno in this competition.
And among the four Democrats, the most important senator is the Democrat in Arizona, Ruben Gallego, who received around $ 10 million in Fairshake advertising support.
The subcommittee will probably represent the point of the lance of the legislation on cryptography during this session of the congress. The House of Representatives had been well in advance on the Senate last year by approving measures on digital assets, but the Senate Banks Commission led by Brown had resisted the adoption of bills.
With the implementation of the new subcommittee, led by the Republican Lummis of Wyoming, the industry should soon look at bills. Lummis herself wrote some in the previous sessions.
