Another school district of Maine took matters into their own hands in the state of the state on transgender athletes in girls sports.

Tuesday, the board of directors of the school unit of the Maine Region (RSU) n ° 24 voted 7-1 to cancel a policy which allows trans athletes to participate in female sports.

The canceled policy, Policy JB, said that “students will be able to participate in accordance with the assertive gender identity at school”.

Superintendent No. 24 of the RSU, Michael Eastman, confirmed to PK Press Club Digital that the district and its schools will immediately cease to follow politics.

“During his meeting last night, after a respectful deliberation, the board of directors of the RSU No. 24 voted on 7-1 (an administrator was absent) to cancel the JB policy – transgender and sexist students,” said Eastman. “This change will take place immediately. We appreciate the participation rate last night and thank the residents who addressed the board of directors with their reflections concerning politics.”

RSU N ° 24 operates five public schools in Sullivan, in Maine. The county of Hancock, where Sullivan is, voted in favor of Donald Trump in the November election by a margin of 52.9% to 45.3%.

The Eastman district is not the first to modify an eligibility policy between the sexes in recent weeks.

The MSAD school board n ° 70 voted unanimously in mid-April to comply with Title IX“Recognizing only two sexes – an organic and biological woman – and that all private spaces are separated by biological sex”.

Superintendent MSAD n ° 70, Tyler Putnam, told PK Press Club Digital that, due to this vote, he is now responsible for modifying district policies to prevent Trans athletes from participating in female sports.

“The motion directs me to rewrite our policies to join the motion,” said Putnam. “It is my interpretation that the school board will seek to approve policies that also align biological sex on their specific sports teams, that is to say that biological men will only play with other organic men and the same for biological women. These policies will have to be approved by the political committee and the map once rewritten.”

Maine is continued by the Ministry of Justice for not having concluded an agreement to comply with the executive decree of Trump “men away from female sports”. Maine has released athletes Trans to compete with girls since 2005, when the Maine Human Rights Act prohibited discrimination based on gender identity.

The Association of Main Directors of Maine (MPA) updated its policies in 2024 to explicitly allow transgender students to compete on the teams corresponding to their gender identity.

The state, in particular its democratic leadership led by Governor Janet Mills, doubles to challenge Trump and protect the rights of his athletes Trans to compete with girls and share the changing rooms of girls.

Many residents, and now school districts, have taken measures to oppose Mills. There have been several demonstrations through the State, including two at the State Capitol in August, by activists who seek to protect the girls from Trans competitors.

Paying attention to the problem was amplified last week after an Athlete Trans won several events during a female track meeting.

A trans-identifying athlete that contributed to the North Yarmouth Academy in Yarmouth, Maine, Poland-Nya-Yarmouth-Seacoast Meet, won the 1600 meters with a time of 5: 57.27, exploding the second runner who finished with 6: 16.32. At 800 meters, the Trans athlete had a closer first place with a time of 2: 43.31, just about a second better than the second finisher with a time of 2: 44.87.

In October 2023, PK Press Club Digital reported that this athlete was transgender.

A survey on The American Parents Coalition noted that out of approximately 600 registered voters from Maine, 63% said that the participation of school sports should be based on organic sex, and 66% agreed that it was “fair to restrict the sports of women to organic women”.

The survey also revealed that 60% of residents would support a voting measure limiting participation In Sports for women and girls at Biological women. This included 64% of the self -employed and 66% of parents with children under the age of 18.
