Two members of the Pakistani army staff, including one major, were martyred in a firearm battle with terrorists in the Mir Ali region in northern Waziristan, said inter-service public relations on Thursday (ISPR ).
The confrontation occurred during an intelligence -based operation carried out by the security forces on the night of January 29 to 30. According to the army media wing, during the operation, the Pakistani troops actually engaged a terrorist hiding place, leading to the death of six activists.
The martyred soldiers were identified as Major Hamza Israr, 29, of Rawalpindi, who directed his troops in the operation, and Sepoy Muhammad Naeem, 26, of Naseerabad. The two men were recognized for their courage and their ultimate sacrifice in the exercise of his functions.
