Majority of survey arguments still pending

The electoral courts have decided on 35 electoral petitions linked to the general elections of 2024 between April 21 and July 31, 2025. With these decisions, the total number of solved petitions reached 171, representing 46% of the overall workload above 23 courts in the four provinces.

Thanks to its systematic monitoring, the free and fair electoral network (FAFEN) identified 374 electoral petitions – 124 contesting the electoral results in the districts of the National Assembly and 250 in the districts of the provincial assemblies (PA).

Until now, approximately two thirds (62%) of the petitions linked to the constituencies of the NA, and half (50%) of those concerning the constituencies of the provincial assemblies remain undecided.

During the reference period, 28 of the 35 petitions decided were Punjab, three each of Sindh and KP, and one Balutchistan.

In Punjab, the four courts based in Lahore decided by 15 petitions, the Bahawalpur court decided nine, while the Rawalpindindi and Multan courts decided two each.

In the Sindh, the two courts of Karachi decided on three petitions. In KP, the Bannu court decided on three cases. In Balutchistan, a Quetta court decided to a petition.

While the Punjab courts have acquired a pace to decide on petitions, the arbitration process in the remaining three provinces has slowed significantly since April 2025. Up to 12 of the 23 electoral courts have not concluded any petition since April 21, 2025.

Overall, the three courts of Balutchistan have collectively decided 44 of the 52 petitions (85%) deposited for the NA and PA districts. The eight courts of Punjab resolved 94 out of 192 petitions (49%).

The six KP courts decided 12 of the 43 petitions (28%), while the five courts of Sindh eliminated 21 of the 84 petitions (25%).

Out of 124 petitions contesting the results of the NA district, 47 (38%) have been decided so far. These include 30 from Punjab, new Balutchistan, five from Sindh and three from KP.

Regarding the AP constituencies, 124 of the 250 petitions (50%) were decided, including 64 from Punjab, 35 from Balutchistan, 16 of Sindh and Nine from KP.

Of the 171 petitions decided so far, 168 have been rejected, while only three have been accepted.

Among the 168 layoffs, 81 petitions (48%) – including 24 linked to the year’s constituencies and 57 AP districts were rejected for reasons of non -maidenability.

22 other petitions (13%) were rejected after the petitioners did not prove their case during the trial procedure.
