Karachi:
Present the new registration plates on the theme of the AJRAK for free or stop a legal action for non-compliance, said the leader of the Muttahida QAUMI Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Dr Faroo Sattar on Sunday.
Sattar has firmly criticized the Pakistani peoples (PPP) party, accusing him of leading a feudal form of democracy in the Sindh in the past 17 years. He warned that Karachi, the province’s economic backbone, was systematically exploited, while his citizens were pushed to the wall.
Addressing a press conference at the headquarters of Bahadurabad de MQM-P alongside the senior leaders Syed Amin-Uul-Haque, Zahid Mansoi, Shakil Ahmed and others, Sattar said that “there is a smoking anger in the cities of the Sindh. Karachi is being silent of culture, and the federal rules have shown an arrogance,”
He questioned the recent promotion of registration plates on the theme of Ajrak, claiming that behind this cultural facade is a “new exploitation avenue”. He allegedly allegedly alleged thousands of police officers from the interior of the Sindh had been deployed in Karachi and extorted citizens’ money under the pretext of the application.
“Governor Sindh rightly stressed that Jrak will lose his holiness if he is used to loot people,” he added.
Sattar pointed out that in the inner Sindh, more than 95% of vehicles would operate without license plates, no measure was taken there. “Karachi, the golden goose, is killed,” he said, calling for free issuance of registration plates or arbitrary sanctions.
He also criticized the recent transfer of 40 employees of the Sehwan Development Authority to the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), calling it “injustice” to Karachi young people. “Karachi and Hyderabad domicile holders are sidelined in government institutions,” he said.
The chief of the MQM said that the collapse of buildings in Lyari and the fact of not implementing policies on dangerous structures reflect the negligence of the provincial government led by the PPP. He demanded that the former chief ministers and local ministers be appointed to the FIR for having authorized illegal constructions during their mandate.
“The Minister of Local Government is forced to convene meetings on dangerous buildings every three months-but they have shown total contempt,” he noted.
By approaching education, Sattar said that during the recent entrance exam of the University of Ned, 90% of students from the Sindh rural councils failed, while 76% of Karachi has passed, showing a blatant disparity.
“I am sorry for these children. They are made according to crutches by a broken system,” he said.
Sattar also criticized the mayor of Karachi and the nine presidents of the city of Jamaat-E-Islami, blaming them for the poor city’s conditions. “The mayor says that he is not responsible for the tracks and the neighborhoods. So who is?” He asked.
