Beasley’s lawyer Steve Haney spoke of the reported investigation.

“An investigation is not a charge,” said Haney in Espn. “Malik has the same right of the presumption of innocence as anyone under the American Constitution. For the moment, he has not been accused of nothing.”

The allegations against Beasley were not immediately known.

Beasley played the 82 games for the pistons last season, starting 18 of them. It has an average of 16.3 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. It was his first season with Detroit and ESPN reported that the two parties had interrupted the negotiations to extend contracts when the investigation had been revealed.

He played nine seasons in the NBA, spending time with Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks.
