March Madness: reported that Atlanta draws near Arena puts the man in the USI

Atlanta police investigate a shooting near State Farm Arena during the March Madness Sweet 16 match on Friday between Michigan State and Ole Miss, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

The victim would be in intensive care.

The shooting occurred a few minutes before the Tip-off and left a 42-year-old man from Charlotte, in North Carolina, hospitalized.

“The victim was transported to the Grady Memorial hospital, where he is currently in the USI,” said Lieutenant Andrew Smith, commander of the Atlanta homicide unit.

“Grady was able to bring him back to the trauma room, where he was taken to the operating room and is now in the USI,” said Smith.

Investigators say that a man approached a group of people on a sidewalk and exchanged words before the dismissal of a weapon, Fox 5 reported.

No suspect was held at the time of publication.
