To celebrate Super Mario Bros.“40th anniversary, Nintendo announced that two new games came to the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as several Super Mario Bros. ports.
During September 12, 2025 Nintendo Direct, the creator of Mario Shigeru Miyamoto launched the presentation by sharing new activities commemorating the milestone, a new animated film, The film Super Mario GalaxyAnd a game reveals.

There is also a story in which Mario and his friends, after meeting monsters on a remote island, turned into babies.
“Help them to relearn their tennis skills and defeat monsters to return to normal in adventure mode.”

This announcement was followed by Yoshi and the mysterious bookLaunch for Nintendo Switch 2 in spring 2026, it is a new platform adventure where Yoshi discovers a particular book named M. E, alias Mister Encyclopedia.
The pages of the book are filled with information on unusual creatures, so Yoshi decides to jump inside and help investigate.
Go to ports, Super Mario Galaxy And Super Mario Galaxy 2 will arrive at Nintendo Switch on October 2, 2025.
The two titles have an improved user interface, the option to read with button and stick or movement checks, a music player in play, new tale book content, as well as improved resolution.
A free update will also be available on Nintendo Switch 2, which adds 4K resolution for the two titles.
