After a visit almost a week in the United States, the Marshal General of Land Syed Asim Munnir arrived in Istanbul on Saturday in what seems to be part of the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan to seek the end of the Iran-Israeli war in progress.
His meeting at the White House with US President Donald Trump discussed in detail about the Middle East crisis and the army chief would have communicated Pakistan’s concerns about the climbing of tensions between Israel and Iran.
The army chief, in accordance with the declared position of Pakistan, pushed a diplomatic solution to the conflict which has the potential to engulf the whole region. After more than two hours of meeting with the Pakistani army chief, President Trump said that Pakistan knew better on Iran than most others.

The arrival of the army chief in Istanbul gives credit to the reports that Pakistan could play a role in defusing the crisis. Interestingly, the Iranian Minister for Foreign Affairs is also in Istanbul in the context of diplomatic efforts in progress to end the Israeli-Iranian war.
It is not clear that the army leader will have a meeting provided for the Iranian Minister for Foreign Affairs. But observers believe that such a meeting is not excluded given the desire of Pakistan to seek conflict.
Pakistan has become one of the key players because it benefits from close links with Iran while developing good bonhomie with President Trump. Experts say Pakistan is only positioned to play a mediator’s role between the United States and Iran.
However, others say that the United States has a direct communications channel with Iran thanks to President Trump’s special envoy on the Middle East. Pakistan, however, can be one of the multiple diplomatic channels looking for a political solution to the crisis.
Meanwhile, a declaration published here by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Deputy Prime Minister / Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, called Türkiye president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in Istanbul during his visit to attend the 51st CFM OIC. He was accompanied by the Marshal Syed Asim Munnir.
During the meeting, the DPM / FM transmitted warm greetings of the Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, to President Recep Tayyip Erdo? An, and stressed the deep importance that Pakistan gives to its lasting bilateral relations with Türkiye.
The two leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen and further diversify long -standing fraternal cooperation between the two countries.
The leaders expressed a strong condemnation of the continuous Israeli attacks in flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of international law; reiterated support for Iran’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and its right to self -defense under the Charter of the United Nations; agreed to continue diplomatic efforts to defuse the situation; And urged the international community to play its role in restoring peace and stability in the region.
The two parties underlined the urgency of galvanizing efforts to immediately suspend the Israeli aggression in Gaza and the unhindered supply of humanitarian assistance to the besieged people of Gaza.
The DPM / FM congratulated President Erdogan for the prize awarded by the youth forum of Islamic cooperation in recognition of its leadership as well as the successful maintenance of the CFM session of the OIC.
