Rawalpindi: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant-General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, categorically refuted media reports claiming certain political comments made by the chief of staff (COAS), Marshal Asim Munir in Brussels.
“The military chief made no political comments in Brussels and made no remarks on Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI),” said Lieutenant-General Chaudhry, speaking to the media during an event.
Stressing that Coas Munnir gave no interview, the military spokesman said that the Marshal in the field did not mention any “apologies”.
Its clarification comes in response to last week’s media reports, which claimed that the army chief said that “political reconciliation was only possible via real excuses for all the parties concerned”.
Reiterating the position of the military on the riots of May 9 – triggered after the arrest of the founding founder of the PTI, Imran Khan, who saw the military and state installations vandalized by crowds – the spokesperson for the upper army said that those behind the incident and their facilitators and planners should be held responsible under law.
“May 9 [issue] is not only a question of the army, but that of the nation, “said Lieutenant-General Chaudhry, adding:” A person who commits an illegal act will have to face the law and criminal accusations. “”
The army filling in governance gaps with blood
In addition, expressing his opinions, the head of the ISPR said that Pakistan is a country capable of changing the fate of the region, and that is why it is frequently attacked.
“Young people should understand the heritage and history of their ideological state,” he said.
Reflecting on the recent armed conflict with India, he said that the neighboring country thought that it would discredit the Pakistani army via its attack, however, everything turned out to be different.
“When Pakistan and the Pakistani army gave a strong answer, India failed in all its plans, including proxies … The world has seen that Pakistan fought the enemy on each front,” he added.
On the issue of terrorism, Lieutenant-General Chaudhry underlined the need to implement the 2014 national action plan for lasting peace.
“Only the first point in the national action plan is fully implemented. The other 13 points are also necessary to fill the lake of governance,” he said.
“The army, the police and the police (LEA) fill the governance gaps by [paying with] Their daily blood, “he deplored.
“If we expel the illegal Afghans involved in crimes, some political and criminal figures from our own country will begin to have problems,” the military spokesman said about the expulsion of people illegally living in Pakistan.
