Maryam Nawaz announces a flood relief package

The chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, revealed on Wednesday a special compensation set for people affected by the floods, while describing key infrastructure plans for long -term protection.

In a rescue camp in the city of Jalalpur Pirwala, the chief minister said that the heirs of those who have lost lives in floods would receive 1 million rupees each. The owners who have fully lost their property will also obtain RS1 million, while those who have partial damage will be granted 500,000 rupees.

Live owners will not be ignored, said Maryam, adding, families who lose large animals will receive 500,000 rupees and those who lose small animals will receive 50,000 rupees. “I am the daughter of Nawaz Sharif and I intend to maintain all the promises made,” she said. “No affected person will be left without support.”

She also revealed several development projects, in particular by building a permanent embankment in Jalalpur Pirwala, supervising future evacuations and launching the Gillani highway for Uch Sharif.

“The victims of the floods are our guests-he is not in a hurry to bring them home until he is sure,” she said. “We work tirelessly to protect each family.” Even in the middle of sorrow, Maryam promised continuous support, saying: “We cannot bring the deceased back, but we will not leave any stone not returned to the restoration of normality.”

In addition, in a decisive decision to push the efforts to take over the Punjab floods, the chief minister created a high level committee of 14 members to supervise a solid rescue and rehabilitation strategy.

The main minister Marriyum Aurangzeb will direct the committee as manager, according to an official notification. The Committee will formulate a complete mechanism for the response to disasters and the rehabilitation of people affected by floods.

The panel includes key provincial figures, including ministers supervising health, irrigation, agriculture, medical and emergency training services and the secretaries of irrigation, agriculture, finance and rescue 1122.

The administrative leadership of the chief secretary, as well as the chiefs of the planning and development council, the Board of Revenue and the Punjab Information Technology Board, are also involved.
