Mavericks coach Darrell Armstrong arrested a serious assault

Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Darrell Armstrong was arrested his first hours on Saturday and accused of assaults against his girlfriend, police announced.

Dallas police were called in Bloc 1000 on avenue Ross in downtown Dallas around 3:45 am, where an investigation found that Armstrong and his girlfriend had been disputed.

At one point, Armstrong hit her with a firearm and threatened to shoot him, police said. An affidavit of arrest warrant against Armstrong, obtained by Fox 4 Dallas, said that the incident had started because of his girlfriend questioning him about a text of another woman.

The victim would have told the police that Armstrong had drunk that evening and asked him that she will give him his keys to their apartment. She then said that Armstrong was on the phone with another person when he picked up a pistol and hit her on the side of the face.

The authorities said they saw a brand on the woman’s cheek under her left eye.

“” I’m going to shoot you, “said the victim, apparently quoting what Armstrong would have told him when he was in charge of the weapon.

The Mavericks published a statement Sunday afternoon concerning the arrest of Armstrong.

“The Dallas Mavericks are aware of an incident involving a member of our staff and collect all the relevant information surrounding the incident,” said the press release, according to Fox 4 Dallas. “We take this matter seriously. The employee was highlighted pending the outcome of legal proceedings.
