Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have joined an “unprecedented coalition” after a major warning from experts.
The California-based royal couple released a major statement following the move.
They shared the statement through their Archewell Foundation.
It read: “Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been invited to join an unprecedented coalition of world-renowned leaders, including AI scientists, experts, policymakers and researchers, to call for a ban on the development of AI superintelligence until the technology is reliable, safe and controllable and gains public buy-in. »
This coalition, the first of its kind, is remarkably ideologically and globally diverse, reflecting strong concern about the future of AI technology.
They added that superintelligence is defined as artificial intelligence capable of outperforming all humans in most cognitive tasks.
Leading AI experts estimate that such systems will be available in less than a decade and warn that “we don’t know how to control superintelligence if it were to be created.”
“Even though innovation in AI offers incredible potential for progress, rushing toward superintelligence without guarantees could have unthinkable consequences for humanity,” they added.
Joining this coalition confirms Meghan and Harry’s continued commitment to advocating for responsible technology, both as digital safety advocates and as parents.
