- The next Mercedes-AMG EV could boast 1,000 hp
- It will be the first Mercedes-AMG product built from zero
- Porsche, Audi and Xiaomi could finally have another ardent rival
Mercedes-AMG teased its first “ super selves ” electric via a series of images published on its social networks which show the large four-door fastback with a thin camouflage.
The front and rear lamps have been inspired by the design of the stars used on the next CLA – causing a certain fury on the social – while the based body height and the enormous adequate improved wheels mean its performance intentions.
Above all, the design is already distinguished from the models of EQE and EQ of Mercedes-AMG slightly confusing which have arrived to date.
But the good news is that this should be the first dedicated high performance electric Mercedes-AMG product, with its own platform (nicknamed AMG.EA) and internal modified electric motors.
Where AMG was once the last word in high performance combustion engines, probably cultivating with its fantastic and ferocious 6.3-liter V8 (I have personally possessed and it was incredible before fuel bills are financially rumped), it has not yet been allowed to have its bad way properly with an electrified power-power.
The reports suggest that the next electric super sedan will use the axial flow engines, which are much lighter and densest energy than the radial motors used in most high performance electric vehicles today.
According to Autocar, a total power of 1,000 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque are quite possible from a two-axial flow engine configuration. But we will have to wait for a complete revelation to find out.
However, this would bring it directly to the Taycan Turbo GT shooting line, which is capable of breaking the 0-62 MPH sprint in just 2.3 seconds thanks to its power of 1020 hp. It can also return 347 impressive miles to a single load.
Analysis: Porsche will be difficult to beat
Since the automotive industry has made the transition to an increasingly electric future, Mercedes-AMG has reduced its enrollment and turbocompress its internal combustion engines, as well as the addition of rechargeable hybrid options in order to comply with more strict emission regulations.
Talk to any AMG fan and they will probably admit that this has had a negative effect on products leaving the famous affalterbach factory. Let’s not start on the Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 and EQS Mercedes-AMG models, in a oddly and slightly disappointing style.
But this last project could be the first time that we really have seen what the famous Mercedes-Benz adjustment arm can do when it gets their hands on the brand’s battery and engine technology, with the results able to take the power of Porsche and Audi.
The first would probably be his closest rival, because he has pushed his EV technology to the limits for years, with the Taycan Turbo GT no doubt one of the most folded and impressive electric vehicles that I have ever had the chance to drive.
Simply implicating an EV with huge quantities of power is not good enough, because so much work must be done to translate this into usable and real performance.
The Taycan Turbo GT – Complete with the Weissach package which eliminates the rear seats and adds a fixed carbon rear wing in search of lightness – is undoubtedly too much for the road, but it redefines what it means to go fast.
Manipulation is exquisite, feedback through the pure Porsche steering wheel and acceleration with an overboost activated the painful limit.
The launch control is so aggressive that the driver can only manage a handful of races before throwing in the towel … or vomiting. However, this can make even goat hack fist drivers, thanks to its apparently infinite quantities of adhesion and balance.
But despite this, the market is still relatively slow for high performance electric vehicles, Taycan sales would have dropped by 49% in 2024. Bad residual values also trust consumers in new cars.
Mercedes-AMG entering the game should help prove to the market that it is really the future of the high performance automobile, based on work that Audi, Porsche and Xiaomi (in China at least) have already done.
In addition, he hope that this will indicate a return to AMG doing what he does best when he is left to his own devices … mainly creating phenomenal driver cars.
