NBC announced that Michael Jordan would be a special contributor to their NBA coverage at the end of the 2025-2026 season on Monday.

The longtime sports broadcaster, Kevin Harlan, talked about what the public should expect from Jordan behind the desk.

“I think that when you may speak of the greatest player who has ever played our game, it is always the interior stuff, which, I think, is the most captivating,” said Harlan during a recent appearance on “Don’t @ me with Dan Dakich” of Outkick.

“You don’t have to do statistics, you can talk about your personal experience, and if you talk about his battles with Reggie Miller and talk about how he prepared for a match 7 or how he prepared for a new series or how he prepared for the regular season sections. I think that is what people – they want to see what is going on behind the edge of the curtain.”

“We all have access to the figures, we read the stories, but I want Jordan to tell me things that I don’t know.”

Harlan quoted an interview he made with the late Kobe Bryant, and how insightful he was, and Harlan would like Jordan to give similar information.

“Hearing Kobe talk in detail about the leg game, positioning, readings, plans, all of this, preparation, the day of preparation, the routine after the match, as it is the kind of thing I want to hear,” said Harlan.

Harlan said Jordan takes fans “behind the scenes”.

“We have a barrage of stories from the hosts and their analysts, it’s great, there is only one Michael Jordan, there is only one Kobe Bryant, and to hear them talking about various facets of the game,” said Harlan.

“You do not need to be there to eat 18 different things, to choose one thing, to choose two things, to take people behind the scenes and the back of the curtain and to reveal what it is to be in this position for this coach for this team. A personal experience, not” good of my day “not this kind of thing, but a way of preparing against a big defender is the point of point.”

NBC focused on the NBA from 1990 to 2002, the peak years of Jordan. After 23 years without it, the NBA returns to the network when their 11 -year contract will start in October.

“I am so excited to see the NBA again on NBC,” said Jordan in a video message. “The NBA on NBC was a significant part of my career, and I am delighted to be a special contributor to the project. I can’t wait to see you all when the NBC on NBC is launched in October.”

Jordan had not been part of any network since his retirement, but had a documentary on his career, “The Last Dance”, Air On Espn in 2020.
