As of Monday, the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) was still “gathering information” about an incident at a high school girls volleyball game involving an OutKick reporter.
OutKick’s Dan Zaksheske detailed the harassment he faced while covering Ann Arbor Skyline High School’s win over Dexter on Thursday night. Ann Arbor Skyline has seen success during the fall season thanks to a transgender athlete competing on the team.

Zaksheske wrote Thursday night that he was followed by Ann Arbor Skyline manager Casey Elmore throughout the game and harassed and stalked by fans. He called the Ann Arbor police and asked to send a police officer just in case. The officer showed up to the game as it was ending.
PK Press Club Digital has reached out to Ann Arbor Public Schools for comment.
“I really felt like this was a complete failure on the part of MHSAA and Ann Arbor Public Schools,” Zaksheske told PK Press Club Digital. “For the principal to watch someone being harassed on her campus, on her property, and not only allow this to continue, but in some cases almost seem to encourage more such acts, I don’t know how she can justify, as an educator, allowing this type of thing to continue.”
PK Press Club Digital asked the MHSAA about the status of its investigation into the situation, whether anyone had spoken with Zaksheske about the incident and whether security measures were being taken to prevent another reporter from being harassed.

“As of Friday afternoon, we were still gathering information about what was reported Thursday evening, but we always prioritize safety at all of our locations and that focus will certainly continue this week,” MHSAA spokesperson Geoff Kimmerly said in response. “I also passed these two pieces of information to Dan.”
Kimmerly did not immediately respond to a question about the details of the investigation, including whether officials had spoken to Zaksheske or others mentioned in the report.
Zaksheske said he has not been contacted by the MHSAA as part of its investigation into last week’s incident.
