- Microsoft has added new features powered by AI to the Windows Photos Application
- Its new features include improved optical recognition and optical characteristics tools
- The update is only partially live with Windows Insider users, the features that should take place in the coming weeks
Microsoft has deployed a new update for the Windows Photos application, which adds Copilot support and a range of new features designed to make the program more user -friendly and useful overall.
As mspoweruser, the biggest change in the Windows Photos app has been spotted is the new COPILOT button, which is now available for some initiate users.
The new features supported by the assistant powered by the company’s AI include improved recognition of optical characters (OCR) with web research integration, which includes the possibility of scanning text with more than 160 recognized languages.
In addition, the new update has added a “searching in the web” button, which will analyze the text in the images and current options according to them, which would be particularly practical for finding sources of documents and screenshots.
Copilot is also powered by the new quick -access drop -down menu with more advanced options to modify the images. Currently, they are: modify with photos, erase objects with photos, create with the designer and a visual search with Bing (if you want to specifically use the search engine supported by Microsoft).
It is undoubtedly less exciting (but always useful) the new shortcuts available in File Explorer, which can also be used from the office. They offer simple access with one click on the aforementioned drop -down menu without even needing to be in the application (or watching images).
Copilot does not only offer creation options but also improvements via the gallery of the photo application. The images are now displayed in the subfolders, keeping things more organized with suggestions for content types. A new dedicated button offers editing features powered by AI with advice to improve an image in different ways.
Microsoft has also introduced minor bug corrections, including small revisions to image image and image image features for Copilot, which could speed things up. This also means that the images generated can be recorded under different names without as many hassles than before.
All these changes are slowly nourished to Windows initiates, so we don’t know exactly when everyone will benefit from new changes, but we believe it will be in the coming weeks.
A real use case for the photo application and the co -pilot
It is just to say that the photos application in Windows 11 was never really something that you would have liked to spend a lot of time.
For most people, it is a simple (and generally fairly fast) way to browse the recorded images on the hard drive and few others. However, supported by Copilot, there is now a series of new features, including image recognition and powerful publishing tools that could give you more reasons to open it and play with things.
Since its launch in February 2023, Microsoft Copilot has become a bigger goal of the company’s strategy, especially on some of the best laptops and the best ultrabooks.
Of course, to use most of these features, you will need a laptop with an NPU (neural processing unit) to use the AI workloads in the first place. Whether with Lunar d’Ill Lac Lunar, the Ryzen AI chips of AMD or the Qualcomm Snapdragon X line, all the best laptop processors now have integrated NPUs. We recommend that you read all the differences to see what suits you.
