Microsoft’s Cloud Azure service was struck by disruptions after the underwater fiber cables were cut in the Red Sea, forcing the company to redirect internet traffic and left users confronted with speeds and technology delays on Saturday, the GIAN of technology said.
The company said its Azure users can be faced with increased delays.
Traffic passing through the Middle East, from or intended for Asia or Europe, may undergo new disturbances, said the company in an update of the state of health of services for its Azure platform.
“Underwater fiber cuts can take time to repair, so we will continue to monitor, rebalance and optimize routing to reduce the impact on customers in the meantime. We will provide daily updates, or earlier if the conditions change,” said Microsoft.
Following the disturbance, Azure – the second largest cloud supplier in the world after AWS AWS – was forced to relaunch traffic through alternative paths, causing higher delays than normal.
