- Microsoft has upgraded the co -pilot to make the assistant AI a professional AI companion
- Announced as part of Microsoft’s 50th anniversary co -pilot event, these new features will start to take place today
- The features include the memory of the chatbot, a research tool and a conscience on the screen to name only a few
Microsoft Copilot makes the jump, transforming a simple generator cat cat into a full AI companion. At least that is what Microsoft promises in one of the most important co -pilot updates to date.
The changes, which add a wide range of new capacities and improve certain existing ones, were announced on Friday April 4 as part of the celebration of the co -pilot / 50th anniversary of Microsoft.
Certainly, many of these features will be familiar to those that perform Google’s Gemini and the OpenAi Chatgpt. In fact, there is a good chance that some of these improvements come directly from Microsoft’s partnership with OPENAI, which gives it access to many best generative models of the IA company.
Copilot is, after all, built on the basis of the OPENAI GPT models.
Among the changes that co -pilot fans will find on Windows (and iOS and Android applications) is, finally, a memory. The current version of Copilot on Windows 11 can keep the previous conversations, but it has no memory of what you have discussed. A new invitation by asking for a recipe or a trip that you planned with the Copilot help days or weeks ago, would draw a digital white look at the generative AI.
This changes with this update. When you discuss, Copilot (with permission, of course) will collect key information concerning you that indicates not only facts but preferences. Microsoft claims that the new co -pilot will create “richer user profiles”. He now has the potential to “learn who you are deeply”. Although it may seem invasive, Microsoft says you can control exactly what you want the co -pilot to learn and keep.
Personalization and memory are important advantages, but they could be exceeded by the new Copilot agent capacities that Microsoft calls “actions”. When the previous co -pilot can help you take concert tickets and take a tour of the Big Show, or find a new apartment and even movers to help you lug your belongings from a place next, Co -pilot actions can take an invite to rent an apartment or reserve storage and do all the work to get there. You just enter an prompt.
Of course, it’s not that simple. Copilot action capacities are not omnipresent. Microsoft has a small collection of launch partners that includes, OpenTable, Priceline, VRBO, Viator, Kayak, Expedia, Tripadvisor, Skyscanner, Booking.com and 1-800-Flowers. It seems that, for the moment, actions will only work if you want it to take measures via these applications and services.
Now see this
The update also makes COPILOT on Windows and the mobile applications more conscious. Although the current version can view photos and screenshots downloaded on the AI, the new version can use your mobile phone camera to see what you see (it will examine the photos or live video).
Perhaps more interesting is that the Windows application of Copilot will be able to see the activity on the screen in the applications. He will finally be up to his name, acting as a co -pilot on file management, Windows settings and work on projects. It is the type of consciousness of the system that Apple has promised by Apple Intelligence and Siri for almost a year, but has not yet delivered. It will be interesting to see if what Microsoft offers here with Copilot is as good as advertising.
The new pages capacities can take disparate project files and organize them in a single canvas. But the pages seem to be more than an organizer, it can help you think about ideas, then modify them and integrate them into your own projects.
In -depth
If pages do not make your project, you could appreciate the new in -depth research. I know, everyone calls the research part of their generative AI platforms ” [something]”. This one seems to function in the same way in that it can help you do research in several stages, acting as a kind of very intelligent research assistant.
Copilot even plunges into podcasts. Similar to what we saw with Spotify Generative IA Podcasts and Google Notebooklm, it can generate podcasts depending on subjects of interest or other discussions that you have had with AI. Microsoft claims that the podcast can play while you continue to fuel new co -pilot guests. It seems a little confusing, but also powerful and intriguing.
There is also a purchase update, transforming the co -pilot into a proactive personal buyer who can monitor offers, do research on products and even manage purchases.
Finally, Copilot takes the search for bing in what could be described as a direction of Google AI, but in a subtle and perhaps more pleasant way to taste. According to the appearance of things, the Bing research results will offer the possibility of taking a deep generative dive into traditional research results. He looks pretty good in the demonstration video, but we can’t wait to see how it works on live search results.
All these updates will not appear immediately through Windows, iOS and Android, but many are starting to deploy today. If you already have Windows 11 Running Copilot, you may want to download the last update and give your co-pilot a radical AI company upgrade.
