- Microsoft and Partners have a new Windows resilience strategy for companies
- WRI moves antivirus tools outside the nucleus for better reliability and recovery
- Crowdsstrike and Bitdefender praise Microsoft’s new approach to security collaboration
Microsoft wants to avoid a rehearsal of the counterpoup that followed the 2024 crow’s failure, and it launches a new frame to do so.
With its new Windows resilience (WRI) resilience, the technology giant seeks to harden the Windows platform against potential disturbances.
Announced at IGNITE, WRI is Microsoft’s strategy to establish resilience in the heart of Windows functioning – through updates, third -party integrations and final points security.
Resilience is not optional
At the heart of WRI are three areas of interest: ecosystem collaboration, practical advice and product innovation.
Microsoft gathered security suppliers and government representatives from the Windows Endpoint Security security ecosystem in 2024 to start this work. Since then, the company has been working in close collaboration with its partners from the Microsoft Virus (MVI) initiative to improve the way Windows manages updates to the security software and the operating system.
Microsoft said the goal was to reduce disturbances while maintaining high safety standards. “Resilience is not optional – it is a strategic imperative,” said David Weston, responsible for business and safety system security at Microsoft, in a new blog.
Security sellers don’t just look at the sidelines. Florin Virlan, please of Bitdefender Customer Solutions Group, said: “Bitdefender is happy to collaborate with Microsoft to redefine how security is delivered to Windows users. experience.”
Alex Ionescu, director of technology technology innovation at Crowdstrike, added: “We spoke to Weses last year to highlight the importance of our industry and, since then, we have experienced an important interest in progress towards greater resilience of the platform. Thanks to this collaboration, we have reduced substantial improvements to the integrated high performance safety solution. ”.
Part of the update is structural: Microsoft moves the antivirus protection and terminals out of the Windows kernel and in user mode. This change should facilitate the recovery of problems and limit their scope.
Microsoft aims to publish these capacities to partners in a private overview soon.
Beyond security suppliers, Microsoft also updates Windows 11 to include new recovery tools and reliability features.
A simplified crash screen, faster restart processes and a new tool called Quick Machine Recovery will start to deploy with Windows 11 24h2.
Bandidage saving tools such as connected cache and secure and flexible printing via universal printing are also refined to keep businesses in progress with fewer interruptions.
Windows 365 Reserve, a new offer, will also allow users to move quickly to a Cloud PC when their main device is out of service.
