- Microsoft offers a new European security program for governments
- The initiative is free and offers new investments and collaboration
- Microsoft hopes to increase response times against AI threats
Microsoft extends its safety umbrella to cover European governments in order to reduce the threats posed by AI and attacks sponsored by the State of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.
The Russian pirates sponsored by the State have targeted European governments using day vulnerabilities, China has hidden its espionage activities using open source VPNs, and North Korea has infiltrated Western organizations through job interviews – to name only a few recent campaigns.
The new European security program will provide additional information on threats, in particular for threats to AI, as well as additional cybersecurity investments and partners, provided free of charge to European governments.
Free cybersecurity for Europe
Microsoft claims that the program will provide quick information at AI and an analysis of cyber-men, helping governments defend themselves more quickly and more effectively against state-sponsored attacks.
Additional intelligence sharing and collaboration between governments and Microsoft will also help improve response rates and coordination during the response to threats that target several nations.
Microsoft will also recommend governments on the latest vulnerabilities and operates zero days through initiatives, including the Microsoft security update guide, the management of the vulnerability of Microsoft Defender vulnerability.
The Microsoft Threat Threat Analysis Center (MTAC) will also provide information on foreign influence and disinformation campaigns, in particular those that use AI, emphasizing the tactics used in each campaign and their distribution methods.
The program will be available for all EU member states, as well as EU membership countries, members of the European Free Trade Association (ALEF), as well as the United Kingdom, Monaco and the Vatican.
“This new program is expanding the geographic scope of our existing work and adds new elements that will become essential for the protection of Europe. It places AI at the center of our work as a tool to protect the traditional needs of cybersecurity and strengthens our protection of digital infrastructure and AI, “said Microsoft in a press release.
“Together, these efforts reflect Microsoft’s long -term commitment to defend Europe’s digital ecosystem – as far as the threat landscape is evolving, we will remain a reliable and firm partner for Europe to secure its digital future,” said Microsoft.
